Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock worker to transport freight across the dock area to and from trailers for loading onto trucks. The role involves operating forklifts and hand trucks, verifying freight documentation, and ensuring secure loads for safe transit.

Hours vary; starting pay is $22.26 per hour with the potential to reach $26.04 per hour. Equal opportunity employer; ADA accommodations available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard mule duties required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week and lift heavy dock plates.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment, including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description using current electronic or manual system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps, rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations, as well as company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
