Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a Dockworker to load and unload freight, ensuring correct placement on trailers. Safety is paramount, with forklift use, cord/strap securing, and proper packing to prevent damage.

You will read labels and complete freight movement forms, supporting accurate deliveries. Responsibilities include operating a forklift, stacking, and communicating with the service center team to meet schedules and DOT guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High school degree or equivalent.
• Experience: Safe lifting and transporting procedures knowledge.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms and loading techniques.
• Ability to monitor shipment locations with yard management systems.
• Ability to operate a tablet and meet schedule demands.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual methods per DOT guidelines.
• Transport freight and maintain service center flow on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Monitor shipment locations using the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete freight movement forms and reports.
• Hand load, rewrap, or stack freight as needed; ensure trailer loading quality.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps, or cords.
• Maintain frequent contact with service center staff; meet deadlines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
