Job summary

Knight Transportation in Phoenix is seeking a Freight Broker to negotiate rates, develop carrier partnerships, and respond to capacity needs within KNX Logistics. This onsite role offers growth and a structured schedule.

You will analyze markets, bid rates, and manage the process from carrier buy to delivery, collaborating with customers and leadership to meet growth targets while enjoying a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities to contribute to local communities.

Qualifications

• 1+ years experience in customer accounts and/or operations and/or billing required.
• Basic knowledge of transportation and 3PL, required.
• Bachelors' in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Must be results oriented.
• Must possess entrepreneurial spirit with proven ability to solicit new customers and meet specific revenue targets.
• Must possess a strong sense of urgency and purpose, with a bias for action.
• Must be familiar with and knowledgeable of TMS and brokerage systems.
• Must be self-confident and a self-starter without the need of close supervision.
• Must be able to operate in a busy, demanding environment.
• Must be able to understand and enforce company policies.
• Must be knowledgeable of AS400 and MS Office Suite tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Must possess quantitative and qualitative analysis skills with superior problem solving ability.

Responsibilities

• Negotiate rates for KNX's Logistics Division, build carrier relationships and respond to capacity requirements.
• Provide recommendations on rate adjustments on lanes based on market changes.
• Deliver on strategic growth initiatives.
• Deliver against growth and profitability targets.
• Analyze the freight market to maximize profit and negotiating power.
• Analyze carriers and lanes for capacity, insurance, price, safety and service.
• Negotiate terms with carrier partners and customers.
• Communicate market changes to leadership and stakeholders.
• Manage the process from buy via outside carrier to delivery for customers.
• Coordinate between customers' transportation staff and head office.
• Support KNX's overall strategy and KPI focus.
