Freight Account Manager | Elmhurst, Illinois | Salary up to $80,000 + Bonus
This role is responsible for managing and expanding customer relationships while coordinating international and domestic transportation solutions across air, ocean, and ground freight services.
The candidate will have experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain management and possess strong communication, problem‑solving, and account development skills. This position plays a key role in ensuring customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of freight forwarding clients across import and export operations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, shipment updates, issue resolution, and service requests
- Develop and maintain strong long‑term client relationships to increase retention and account growth
- Coordinate shipments with internal operations teams, carriers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and warehouses
- Monitor shipment performance, delivery timelines, and service quality standards
- Prepare quotes, rate proposals, and transportation solutions tailored to customer needs
- Identify upselling and cross‑selling opportunities for air freight, ocean freight, customs brokerage, warehousing, and value‑added logistics services
- Maintain accurate customer records, shipment documentation, and CRM activity
- Support contract renewals, pricing negotiations, and customer reviews
- Work collaboratively with operations and sales teams to ensure seamless execution and customer satisfaction
- Assist with resolving billing discrepancies, claims, and service‑related concerns
- Stay informed on market trends, carrier capacity, and international shipping regulations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in freight forwarding, logistics, transportation, or supply chain account management
- Experience with international air and ocean freight strongly preferred
- Knowledge of import/export procedures, Incoterms, and customs documentation preferred
- Strong customer service and relationship management skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with freight management systems, CRM platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite
