Job summary

Celero Commerce is seeking a Fraud Investigator to oversee merchant activity and protect against credit card fraud. You will identify risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and mitigate fraud exposure across our portfolio.

Responsibilities include monitoring queues, analyzing trends, conducting investigations, and educating merchants on card acceptance rules. You will report to the Risk Manager and collaborate with sales to escalate cases as needed.

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Attention to detail and ability to detect abnormal trends.
• Ability to analyze financial documentation and make informed decisions.
• Familiarity with the chargeback process and ability to articulate information to merchants and partners.
• Experience working with risk platforms is a plus.
• Strong communication skills via phone and email with internal teams, merchants, and partners.
• Ability to navigate multiple systems and manage cases efficiently.
• Goal-oriented mindset with the ability to meet or exceed daily, monthly, and annual quotas.
• Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor daily exception queues for potentially fraudulent activity, excessive chargebacks, and approved processing parameters.
• Analyze processing trends for possible fraud and recognize merchants approaching pre-set thresholds.
• Conduct re-reviews and initiate investigations as needed.
• Create and track cases in internal systems, documenting investigation outcomes.
• Educate merchants on proper card acceptance methods and industry rules.
• De-escalate situations and handle potentially difficult interactions over phone and email.
• Provide operational assistance throughout Celero Operations.
• Ensure compliance with Mastercard and Visa regulations as well as internal underwriting and risk procedures.
• Report directly to the Risk Manager and/or Director of Risk Management and escalated cases when necessary.
• Work closely with sales channels to elevate investigations to the appropriate teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
