Job summary

Northern Bank is seeking a Franchise & C&I Credit Analyst II to evaluate and underwrite franchise and commercial & industrial loan opportunities. The role analyzes borrower and guarantor financial performance, operations, repayment capacity, and collateral to assess risk and support sound lending decisions.

Responsibilities include reviewing financial statements, tax returns, cash flows, plus preparing concise credit memoranda and loan presentations with identified risks and mitigants.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field.
• Experience with commercial real estate lending (multifamily, office, retail, industrial).
• 1-3+ years of experience in credit analysis, commercial banking, or real estate underwriting.
• Salesforce experience preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite including Excel and Word.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changes in environment.
• Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Analyze borrower and guarantor financial statements, tax returns, personal financial statements, and cash flow.
• Evaluate historical and projected business performance, including revenue trends and EBITDA.
• Assess loan structure, collateral, repayment sources, and guarantor support.
• Analyze franchise relationships and multi-unit networks where applicable.
• Prepare credit memoranda and loan presentations with risks, mitigants, and recommendations.
• Conduct industry, market, and competitive research to identify credit risks.
• Evaluate valuations, collateral coverage, and due diligence.
• Review third-party reports and support documentation for material risks.
• Support loan origination, underwriting, and closing with Loan Officers.
• Perform annual reviews and monitoring of credit relationships.
• Assist in maintaining bank filing systems and participate in process improvements.
