Job summary

H&R Block in Gibson City, IL seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver meticulous bookkeeping, payroll and client service for our local communities. You’ll post transactions, reconcile accounts and generate statements to support informed decisions.

You’ll also prepare payroll, W-2s and 1099s, communicate with clients, vendors and banking contacts, and assist in client retention and growth while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy in every task.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP & procedures.
• Ability to interpret and apply instructions, policies and regulations.
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
• Analytical skills and an eye for detail.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and work independently.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
