Job summary

Vessel Advisors is seeking a Controller who will own the accounting, job cost, WIP reporting, and revenue recognition for a portfolio of construction clients, primarily general contractors and specialty trades.

You will lead month-end close, review estimates-to-complete, and ensure accurate reporting to owners and CFOs. A strong background in construction accounting and GAAP is essential, with an AI-first approach highly valued.

Qualifications

• Experience owning job cost, WIP, and revenue recognition for GC or specialty contractors.
• Strong GAAP knowledge including ASC 606 application to construction contracts.
• Ability to challenge project managers on estimates and explain results to owners.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close for assigned clients with job cost review and WIP.
• Lead estimate-to-complete reviews with project managers and owners.
• Review pay apps, schedules of values, and change orders before submission.
• Present monthly results to owners and leadership with clear explanations.
