Job summary

Vessel Advisors is seeking a results-driven Controller to join its remote, fractional finance team. The role reports to the VP of Operations and client leadership, owning accounting, WIP, revenue recognition, and monthly reporting for construction clients.

You will collaborate with project managers, challenge estimates, implement AI-enhanced processes, and maintain tight deadlines across multiple clients while delivering clear financial insight.

Qualifications

• Eight+ years of progressive accounting experience with ownership of job cost, WIP, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition for contractors
• GAAP and ASC 606 knowledge applied to construction contracts
• Experience with construction ERPs or job cost platforms and advanced Excel
• CPA or CCIFP preferred and strong communication for client engagements
• Ability to manage multiple clients remotely and lead forecasting and reporting processes

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close for each client, including job cost review, accruals, and WIP schedule tied to GL
• Lead monthly est-to-complete meetings with PMs and owners, documenting changes
• Review AIA pay applications, schedules of values, change orders, retainage, and subcontractor pay apps
• Present monthly results to owners with clear explanations of job-level performance and causation
