Job summary

Hedge is hiring a founding wholesale broker to build and own our medical malpractice practice, combining retail-agency relationships, healthcare risk judgment, placement craft, and relentless follow-through to produce durable revenue across physicians, facilities, behavioral health, and complex healthcare services.

You will lead a focused strategy to shape submissions, select carriers, and drive placements, with equity ownership and a high-impact founding role as we scale.

Qualifications

• Three years of brokerage, underwriting, or related experience in medical malpractice.
• Ability to discuss book, producer relationships, carrier relationships, premium volume with specific numbers.
• Commercially sharp, technically credible, and disciplined about details.

Responsibilities

• Build a focused retail-agency pipeline in medical malpractice and healthcare professional liability.
• Triage clinical operations, procedures, staffing models, patient mix, loss history, limits, retroactive dates, and regulatory details.
• Shape complete submissions and select the right carrier, MGA, and program path for each account.
• Negotiate occurrence and claims-made structures, prior acts, defense, consent-to-settle, exclusions, and excess layers.
• Explain coverage tradeoffs clearly and drive placements from first intake through bind.
• Build durable underwriter relationships and turn placement knowledge into repeatable playbooks.
