Hedge is hiring a founding wholesale broker to build and own our medical malpractice practice in San Francisco. You will blend retail-agency relationships, healthcare risk judgment, and placement craft to generate durable revenue across physicians and healthcare facilities.

Expect a high-earning role with a base salary range and significant upside. You will work closely with founders and underwriters to shape markets, submissions, and program paths, with equity at stake as the company scales.

Qualifications

• At least three years of brokerage, underwriting, or closely related experience in medical malpractice or healthcare professional liability.
• Commercial insurance knowledge and market access for healthcare risks.
• Strong ability to discuss books, producer relationships, and premium volume with specifics.

Responsibilities

• Build a focused retail-agency pipeline in medical malpractice and healthcare professional liability.
• Triage clinical operations, procedures, staffing models, loss history, limits, retroactive dates, and regulatory details.
• Shape submissions and select the right carrier, MGA, and program path for each account.
• Negotiate occurrence and claims-made structures, prior acts, defense, consent-to-settle, exclusions, and excess layers.
• Explain coverage tradeoffs clearly and drive placements from intake through bind.
• Build durable underwriter relationships and turn placement knowledge into repeatable playbooks.
