Job summary

Hanwha Q CELLS America Inc. seeks a founding commissioning leader to build the BESS Commissioning and Field Service organization.

Starting in Q1 2027 with order intake and targeting H2 2028 installation projects, this role will define commissioning standards, recruit the team, and lead hands-on field commissioning. Located in California, this pivotal role will recruit and lead the team, establish safety protocols, and oversee testing, handover, and ongoing maintenance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; PE license preferred.
• 7+ years of BESS commissioning experience.
• Hands-on commissioning with PCS/inverters and BMS/EMS/SCADA.
• Experience with IEEE 1547, UL1741 SA/SB, UL9540.

Responsibilities

• Develop and standardize BESS commissioning procedures (FAT, SAT, grid interconnection).
• Recruit and build Field Commissioning Engineers and support teams.
• Lead hands-on commissioning of BESS AC/DC systems and integrations.
• Manage customer handover, testing reports, and punch list resolution.
• Establish site safety protocols per OSHA and NFPA 70E; PTW procedures.
• Develop and deliver customer operations training programs.
• Build remote monitoring, fault diagnostics, and corrective maintenance processes.
• Support Project Engineering and Engineer of Record functions.
