OpenVenture is hiring a hands‑on growth leader for a venture making legal services easier to access, understand, and afford through AI-powered technology and experienced attorneys.
Our ambition is to serve thousands of paying client matters across immigration, employment, business, and other areas of law. That could mean helping a professional pursue a talent visa, an employee review a severance agreement, a founder protect their business, or a family prepare an estate plan.
We’re looking for someone who has already figured out how to acquire consumers, earn their trust, and turn interest into revenue and can show us the numbers.
The Role
You will own consumer growth from first touch through signed engagement and first payment. You’ll work directly with the founders, with the autonomy to test ideas, build channels, and scale what works.
We have an existing community and distribution relationships to build on. Your job is to turn those assets into a repeatable acquisition system while developing new sources of demand.
What You'll Own
- Find and scale acquisition channels. Identify the strongest opportunities across communities, partnerships, creators, referrals, search, and paid acquisition. Prove which channels produce paying clients at sustainable costs.
- Turn education into demand. Build useful workshops, assessments, guides, tools, and community programs that help people understand their options and take the next step.
- Build partnerships that produce clients. Develop relationships with professional associations, employers, community organizations, creators, and businesses whose audiences have relevant legal needs.
- Own the conversion funnel. Improve landing pages, lead qualification, consultation bookings, attendance, follow‑up, signed engagements, and payments. Work closely with intake and legal teams to understand why people convert or drop off.
- Know the economics. Track acquisition cost by channel and service, including content, staffing, agency, creator, and event costs. Connect spending to collected revenue, delivery costs, refunds, and payback.
- Build lifecycle and referral programs. Help interested prospects become ready to buy, reactivate qualified leads, and make it easy for satisfied clients to refer others.
- Expand beyond an initial sector. Develop distinct audiences, offers, and acquisition approaches for employment, business, and other legal services.
- Execute directly. Write copy, launch campaigns, build landing pages, set up tracking, negotiate partnerships, and run experiments. Bring in specialists when the results justify it.
What You've Already Done
- Personally owned growth for a consumer business and can explain how your work increased paying customers and revenue.
- Built at least one repeatable acquisition channel and scaled it beyond the initial launch, founder network, or publicity spike.
- Managed acquisition budgets and made decisions using CAC, conversion, contribution margin, and payback.
- Improved a journey involving trust, education, consultations, or a considered purchase.
- Built systems for attribution, CRM follow‑up, and funnel reporting.
- Run experiments that failed, understood why, and changed direction quickly.
Experience in legal services, healthcare, financial services, insurance, education, or a consumer marketplace is especially relevant. Legal industry experience is welcome but not required.
You don’t need to be an expert in every channel. You do need to know how to choose, test, and scale the right ones.
What Success Looks Like In Your First 90 Days
- A clear baseline showing where paying clients come from, what acquisition costs, and where conversion breaks down.
- Focused experiments across the most promising channels, with measurable results.
- Improvements to the consultation‑to‑payment journey.
- Evidence supporting which channels to scale, which to stop, and the budget and capacity required to progress toward 5,000 paying matters.
