Job summary

Neara, a rapidly growing fintech, seeks a Financial Controller in a hybrid New York City role. You will design, build, and own the accounting function, reporting to the CFO, and drive GAAP reporting across multiple entities and jurisdictions.

You’ll lead the move from Xero to NetSuite, implement internal controls, and partner with legal, compliance, and regulators on license applications as the company expands into the US, Europe, Singapore, and the UAE.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, incl. 2–3 years in a Controller or similar leadership role.
• CPA or equivalent qualification (ACCA/CA accepted).
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and working knowledge of IFRS, multi-currency/multi-entity consolidation.
• Experience building or scaling an accounting function in a high-growth company.
• Background in financial services/fintech/banking; direct bank charter/regulatory reporting experience is a plus.
• Strong internal controls and process design; experience with external auditors and SOX readiness.
• Hands-on builder mentality, excellent communication, familiar with modern ERP systems.
• Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance; MBA a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly, quarterly, and annual close ensuring GAAP statements.
• Build and scale accounting infrastructure and internal controls with CFO.
• Stand up accounting for new legal entities across US, EU, SG, UAE.
• Serve as point of contact for auditors, tax advisors, regulators.
• Manage day-to-day accounting operations including AP/AR, payroll, cash reconciliations.
• Lead transition to modern ERP, move from Xero to NetSuite.
• Plan and build out an accounting team as the company grows.
