Job summary

Mondrio is hiring a Design Engineer to lead the design system, component library, and frontend patterns. You’ll work with the executive team and engineers to ship features with cohesive UX, accessibility, and performance.

This role sits in a fast-growing startup with in-person SF office presence and a focus on high-fidelity, polished interfaces crafted for scale. You’ll own tokens, the UI library, and lint rules to guide both human and AI-generated code, ensuring consistency across the product

Qualifications

• 5+ years building product interfaces with polished UI
• Owned a design system or component library in production
• Passionate about typography, spacing, motion and micro-interactions
• Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and component primitives

Responsibilities

• Own the design system: tokens, shadcn/ui library, Tailwind conventions across the product
• Define patterns for React Query, React Hook Form, and Zod to ensure consistency
• Shape the brand identity of conversational agents across platforms like Slack/Teams
• Enforce accessibility and WCAG-compliant contrast in guidelines and code
• Own frontend tooling and quality (Biome, Playwright E2E, performance)
• Collaborate with founders to reflect brand in product
• Keep the frontend as a thin, polished layer over the versioned API
