Job summary

Moritz in New York is seeking a founding counsel to join as a founding team member—not just as legal counsel, but as a core partner in shaping our product and growth in the US.

You will lead attorneys and clients, own practice areas end to end, build and refine our offerings, and design scalable workflows with the founding team to drive product adoption and growth while providing strategic guidance on commercial matters as we scale.

Qualifications

• 4–10 years of experience at a leading law firm, tech-scale up or enterprise companies.
• JD and active license to practice law in the US (non negotiable).
• Entrepreneurial mindset and excitement about building something new.
• Genuine interest in AI and legal tech.

Responsibilities

Moritz is a global AI-native law firm that will handles legal work with same day turnaround. Our lawyers have closed $ 3bn in deals with an average turnaround of 4-hours. No other law firm offers this kind of speed for complex deals.

We've raised $9m from by YC, 20VC and the founders of Dropbox, Gusto, Instacart, Reddit, Superhuman, Producthunt, HuggingFace and 15 other unicorn founders.

We're looking for a founding counsel to join as a founding team member — not just as legal counsel, but as a core partner in shaping our product and growth in the US.

• Build, test, and refine our products and offerings
• Partner with the founding team to design scalable legal workflows that drive product adoption and growth
• Provide strategic guidance on commercial or corporate matters as we scale

What we’re looking for

• 4–10 years of experience at a leading law firm, tech-scale up or enterprise companies
• JD and active license to practice law in the US (non negotiable requirement)
• Entrepreneurial mindset and excitement about building something new
• Genuine interest in innovation, AI, and legal tech
• Comfort operating in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment

Compensation: $ 180K-300K + equity + bonus
