Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD seeks a Director of Fiscal Operations & Foundation Accounting to serve as the Foundation’s controller, ensuring integrity of monthly and annual closes and GAAP compliance. The role collaborates with the Associate Director, AR Manager, and Senior Endowment & Foundation Accountant to maintain accurate, timely reporting.

The position does not supervise staff but partners across divisions to strengthen internal controls and provide expert technical accounting

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required.
• At least seven years of nonprofit/fund accounting experience with ownership of a full close cycle.

Aufgaben

• Own the monthly and year-end close: consolidate entries from all areas, record accruals/adjusting entries, and review journal entries for accuracy.
• Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts; ensure GAAP (ASC 958) compliance across all fund types.
• Set technical accounting policy for contributions, pledges, investments, and net assets; resolve complex accounting questions.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and segregation of duties across the close cycle.
• Prepare the monthly financial reporting package (statements, budget-to-actual, variance, KPIs) for the AVP’s review and Board distribution.
• Partner with the AVP on regulatory reporting and external audit by providing schedules and reconciliations.
