Job summary

South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a CWS Case Manager–Foster Care to lead case management and concurrent planning for children and families in the foster care program.

You will collaborate with Family Teams to develop strength-based permanency plans, monitor safety and well-being, and engage with families and partners with empathy. This role requires active case recording in CAPSS and coordination with legal processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level education in social sciences relevant to child welfare.
• Experience or training in case management and documentation is preferred.
• Ability to work within policy, mission, and GPS Practice Model.

Responsibilities

• Case management for foster care caseload and concurrent planning.
• Collaborate with Family Teams to develop permanency plans.
• Monitor safety, permanency, and well-being per GPS Practice Model.
• Complete and update CANS and coordinate with Family Permanency Plan.
• Engage families and partners with empathy; respond to communications promptly.
• Maintain case records per policy in CAPSS and ensure timely documentation.
• Collaborate with legal on safety, court orders, and proceedings.
• Complete 20 hours of annual training and maintain welfare certification.
• Protect PII and safeguard agency data.
• Perform shelter duties as directed.
