Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed with enterprise customers, designing, building, deploying, and operating AI-powered production systems alongside customer teams.

The role emphasizes autonomous contributions across the full software lifecycle, with responsibilities spanning requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operations, while mentoring others and driving measurable customer value.

Qualifications

3+ years of non-internship software development experience
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field
2+ years of experience in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment
Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus)
Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph

Responsibilities

Embed within customer engineering teams.
Understand customer business processes, translate requirements into designs for AI-enabled production systems.
Build production AI applications.
Own production for your workstream including end-to-end lifecycle and operations.
Mentor and uplift junior engineers and code reviewers.
Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable AI patterns.
