Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Dockworker/Forklift Operator for the AM/PM shift at the Forest View, IL service center. This role loads and unloads freight using forklifts or pallet jacks, secures cargo, and supports yard operations to ensure timely deliveries.

Responsibilities include managing shipping paperwork, reading labels, and following DOT guidelines while maintaining safety and efficiency in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Must know safe lifting procedures and freight transportation processes.
• Ability to use Dock Yard Management System and read shipping documents.
• Must be available to work all required shifts.
• Must read/write English.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using motorized forklift, pallet jack or manually.
• Transport freight within the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Utilize Dock Yard Management System to monitor shipment locations.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets, straps and other securing devices.
