Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line in AK is seeking a detail‑oriented Dock Worker/Forklift Operator for evening shifts. You will load/unload freight, use a forklift, and support warehouse operations while adhering to safety and DOT guidelines, ensuring accurate, on-time customer deliveries.

Responsibilities include securing loads, reading shipping labels, and using yard management systems to track shipments, with a strong emphasis on reliability and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Must have working knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Must know freight procedures and loading techniques (tight/cross).
• Familiar with forms used in freight movement (shipping orders, manifests, bills).
• Ability to use the dock yard management system for tracking shipments.
• Available for work at all times to meet schedules; able to operate a handheld tablet.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using forklift, pallet jack or manually.
• Transport personnel and freight throughout the service center on various surfaces.
• Monitor freight locations with the Dock Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete required freight forms as needed.
• Secure freight inside trailers using straps, airbags, and cardboard.
• Maintain safe and accurate loading to ensure on-time deliveries.
