Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight in a multimodal terminal environment. You will coordinate with drivers and use scanners to ensure accurate documentation, while maintaining safety standards and a clean work area.

The role requires 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience, forklift certification, and strong English communication. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 6am–3pm, onsite, with opportunities to mentor newer team members.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification (or ability to obtain) before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate in English, verbally and in writing.
• Read labels, barcodes and freight markings; basic arithmetic.
• Willingness to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.
• Ability to operate MHE with site-specific certification.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and adhere to PPE standards.
• Train and mentor other Material Handlers as needed.
