Job summary

Forward Air Corporation in Miami is seeking a Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to safely load, unload, stage, scan, and move freight in a multimodal terminal. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and assist with documentation, while ensuring accuracy and safety on the dock.

As an experienced, non-supervisory team member, you will mentor newer Material Handlers, resolve operational issues, and uphold OSHA and PPE standards in a non-climate-controlled, high-activity environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading while following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accurate documentation.
• Identify damaged freight and report safety or equipment concerns.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock area and comply with PPE standards.
• Operate under supervision while learning equipment operation and procedures.
• Support dock productivity and overall operational goals.
