Job summary

Forward Air Corp. is seeking an experienced Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, scan, and move freight in a multimodal terminal, warehouse, or dock environment. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, maintain documentation, and support dock productivity while mentoring developing teammates.

Qualifications

• Forklift certification/licensure required or ability to obtain before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, up to 75 lbs with assistance or mechanical aids.
• Regular and predictable attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight with handheld devices to ensure accuracy.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and follow PPE standards.
• Learn equipment operation, safety protocols, and procedures.
• Support dock productivity and overall operational goals.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Assist with dock coordination and problem resolution.
• Prioritize freight and coordinate task assignments, possibly in lead capacity.
