Forward Air Corp. in Des Plaines, IL seeks a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, stage, and move freight. You will document cargo with scanning devices and help mentors onboard new Material Handlers in a fast-paced, multimodal facility.

The role requires 3+ years in dock/warehouse work, valid forklift certification, and strong English communication. Expect a Monday–Thursday 1:30 PM–9 PM shift with potential overtime in a non-climate-controlled dock environment.

Qualificações

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required before operating equipment.
• 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience.
• English communication skills, verbal and written.
• Ability to learn basic computer systems and handheld scanners.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs with assistance or equipment.

Responsabilidades

• Load and unload freight using forklifts and MHE per procedures.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between doors and dock areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Report damaged freight or unsafe conditions to supervision.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and PPE compliance.
• Learn equipment operation and safety protocols.
• Support dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
• Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Handle oversized or high-value freight safely.
• Assist with dock coordination and problem resolution.
• Prioritize freight and coordinate task assignments.
• Serve as SME on dock operations and procedures.
• Train and mentor other Material Handlers.
• All other duties as assigned.
