Job summary

Forward Air Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely load, unload, and move freight in a multimodal terminal, warehouse, or dock environment. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and related MHE, follow safety and documentation procedures, and contribute to accurate freight handling.

This role requires a valid forklift certification, 3+ years dock or warehouse experience, and the stamina to stand and lift up to 50–75 lbs as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Certification/Licensure: Valid forklift certification/licensure required (or ability to obtain before operating equipment).
• Experience: 3+ years of dock or warehouse experience required.
• Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing, to understand safety and operational instructions.
• Ability to recognize numbers, labels, barcodes, and freight markings accurately, and to perform basic arithmetic.
• Equipment: Ability to safely operate MHE such as pallet jacks, forklifts, and reach trucks with training.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and trailers.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight for accuracy and documentation.
