Job summary

International Paper in Roanoke, VA is seeking a Forklift Operator to load/unload trucks and move materials. The role requires forklift certification and OSHA-compliant operation, with 2+ years of forklift experience preferred.

This full-time hourly position runs 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday–Friday, with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k), PTO and tuition reimbursement. Join IP to support safe, efficient warehouse operations.

Qualifications

• Forklift certification required by OSHA standards.
• Two years forklift experience preferred.
• Basic computer skills and ERP familiarity required.
• Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic calculations.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload trucks.
• Position forks and lifting devices for pallets and products.
• Move stock onto/off pallets for storage or shipment.
• Inventory materials on the work floor and supply others as needed.
• Weigh materials and record weights on tags or schedules.
• Lubricate and recharge equipment; replace gas tanks as needed.
• Record shipment ticket numbers accurately.
• Complete pre-inspections and paperwork.
• Inspect bales and report damages or shortages.
• Receive delivery receipts from forklift drivers.
• Maintain a safe, orderly work environment.
• Perform other duties as directed.

The Job You Will Perform

• Loads and unloads trucks.
• Positions forks, lifting platform, or other lifting device under, over, or around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials.
• Locating and moving stock of products onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device for storage or shipment..
• Inventories material on work floor, and supply workers with materials as needed.
• Weighs materials or products and records weight on tags, labels, or production schedules.
• Lubricates fork truck, recharges batteries, fills fuel tank, or replaces liquefied gas tank
• Ensures all shipping/warehouse paperwork ticket numbers are recorded accurately.
• Completes pre-inspections and fill out forms.
• Inspects bales and identifying damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
• Receiving forklift drivers sign delivery receipts when truck is unloaded.
• Help maintain a safe and orderly environment
• Other duties as directed

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have demonstrated the ability to perform normal duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Skilled & certified to drive forklift. OSHA requires forklift operators to get certified to prevent unsafe driving and injuries. By ensuring their operators are certified, employers can benefit from safer workplace and more productivity, organizational skills, ability to read a tape measure, at least two (2) years previous forklift experience. Possess basic computer skills and proficient user of our ERP system. Attention to detail and familiarity with industrial equipment.
