Job summary

International Paper in Columbia, SC is seeking a warehouse/production worker to support material handling, loading/unloading, inventory, and safety compliance on a dynamic production floor.

You will operate forklifts, manage materials, and coordinate with floor leadership to ensure smooth production flow while adhering to safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Forklift operator experience preferred; strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
• Load trucks and secure product per customer requirements.
• Load and unload materials onto/off pallets or lifting devices.
• Monitor material usage and supply production lines with raw materials.
• Weigh materials or products and record results on tags or schedules.
• Keep production lines supplied with raw materials.
• Inventory products and label, sort, wrap and tie as needed.
• Unload and stack material using lifting equipment.
• Adapt schedule to changing warehouse demands.
• Communicate maintenance, downtime, and quality issues to floor lead.
• Meet safety policies and report maintenance concerns.
• Perform special projects as needed; duties may expand.
• Assist with cleanup tasks such as machine cleaning and scrap handling.
• Count and stack finished product; read factory orders.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure compliance with corporate and plant safety standards and with applicable laws and regulations issued by regulatory agencies

• Load trucks and secure product in accordance with customer requirements

• Load and unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, or lifting device

• Monitor material usage on work floor and supply production lines with raw materials

• Weigh materials or products and record results on tags, labels, or production schedules

• Keep production lines supplied with raw materials

• Inventory product as needed. And label, sort, wrap and tie product

• Unload and stack material by raising and lowering lifting device

• Adapt schedule to work alongside the changing demands of the warehouse

• Communicate with floor lead — maintenance issues, downtime, production issues, unacceptable or non-conforming loads, poor bale quality, or any other issues with material being handled

• Meet all company safety policies and report any concerns related to required maintenance of machines

• Special projects as business dictate

• Duties may be expanded upon and additional duties may be assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND REQUIREMENTS

• Must be 18 years of age

• Must have earned a High School Diploma, GED, required schooling, qualifying experience or skills

• Forklift Operato experience preferred; strong knowledge of machines in a manufacturing setting

• Ability to work a flexible schedule

• Ability to follow detailed instructions

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

• Team-oriented and self-directed

• Must read, write, and communicate in English as it relates to this position and to the safety regulations

• Must meet the ergonomic and physical requirements, as well as the physical base profile (below) for this position

• Must be able to use, or learn to use, the equipment and tools used to perform this job

• Must be able to perform all the job functions safely

• Must meet the company quality and performance standards for the job as specified

• Must agree to wear the proper assigned PPE and shoes approved for this job as specified in Contact and Safety Requirements

• This person will also be assigned to clean-up functions such as blowing down the machine, wiping off shafts, cleaning ink systems, vacuuming and sweeping the machine area, as well as picking up and shredding scrap.
