Job summary

FedEx Freight in Irvine is seeking a dock/warehouse associate to transport freight across the dock area, load to trailers, and assist customers with documentation. Work involves forklift, pallet jack and hand truck use, with focus on safety and accurate records.

Starting pay includes hourly rates with a range, and benefits such as health and retirement programs are provided. The role requires reliability, the ability to lift heavy loads, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• Experience with hostler/yard mule duties preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry hand freight of varying weights several times a week and to open trailer doors requiring substantial lift.
• Ability to bend, twist, squat, push/pull freight throughout shift.
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform freight handling using motorized and manual equipment, including forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description (type, weight, hazardous materials) using current system.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps and rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Verify and complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation as needed.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
