Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a dock/yard associate to transport freight within the dock area and load trailers. You will operate equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks, verify freight documentation, and secure loads for safe transport.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred), and prior warehousing or forklift experience is a plus. The role offers a consistent evening shift and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Prior warehousing, freight handling and/or forklift experience preferred.
• If hostler/yard duties are required, experience preferred.
• Ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lift/carry varying weights several times a week and operate dock doors with lift force up to 75 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Transport freight across dock area to/from trailers for loading to trailers.
• Freight handling using forklift, pallet jack and hand truck.
• Verify documentation matches freight description.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
• Recoup/repair damaged freight when necessary.
• Complete required documentation and reports.
• Assist customers with freight and freight documentation.
• Perform hostling duties if required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
