Old Dominion Freight Line is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to load and unload freight safely and efficiently at our service center. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, read shipping labels, and secure cargo to ensure on-time deliveries.

This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a team. Full-time, onsite with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of safe lifting and transporting procedures.
• Knowledge of freight transportation procedures.
• Familiarity with loading techniques (tight/cross).
• Ability to use the dock yard management system to monitor shipments.
• Available for work at all times to meet schedules.
• Ability to operate handheld tablet.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight on trailers using a forklift, pallet jack, or manually according to DOT guidelines.
• Transport staff and freight throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Use Dock Yard Management System to monitor freight locations.
• Read and interpret shipping labels and forms for freight movement.
• Hand load, rewrap or stack freight as necessary.
• Secure freight inside trailers with pallets and straps.
• Frequent contact with service center personnel; fast-paced and deadline driven.
