If you love to travel, this is the role for you! In this role, you will travel to project sites and are paid per diem for your hotel stay and mileage. This is a great opportunity for someone with expertise in forestry. Even better if you have distribution or transmission expertise!

The role of Foreman works within and leads a vegetation management crew. The Foreman operates either a bucket truck or other machines, leads training and development of trimmers and groundmen. The foreman enforces safety and operational practices. This role assumes responsibility for maintenance and accuracy of attendance and safety records. The Foreman confers with customers, property owners and the general public. The Foreman reports to the General Foreman and must stay compliant with safety procedures as administered by the Safety Leader.

What You Will Do

1. Lead vegetation management crews.
2. Ensure utility specifications are followed.
3. Coordinate with the General Foreman.
4. Pre-inspect projects and develop recommended management plans, matching labor and equipment resources to work and cost estimates.
5. Maintain accurate project circuit maps noting project status, crew locations, and estimated completion dates.
6. Inspect crews, start/stop times, and identification of project shop locations.
7. Audit time sheets for accuracy.
8. Assist with customer notifications and complaints.
9. Preview work assignments and conduct post-work critiques for each crew.
10. Maintain an adequate inventory of tools and supplies to support the crews.
11. Coordinate activities with the General Foreperson to meet utility customer requirements.
12. This is a minimum 40-hour work week with overnight travel 85% of the time.
13. Perform other duties as required.

What We Are Looking For

• Field experience as a vegetation management crew member.
• Ability to evaluate circuit conditions and estimate hours to complete required clearances per utility specifications.
• Computer knowledge.
• Ability to communicate with various levels of personnel and write reports.
• Ability to maintain attention and concentration around hazardous equipment.
• Willingness to wear PPE as necessary.
• Ability to safely drive an approved company vehicle.
• Ability to enter and exit a vehicle multiple times daily.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to traverse various terrains.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding written and verbal instructions.
• Professional communication and confrontation handling skills.
• Willingness to work long hours and overtime, including holidays and weekends.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment.
• Willingness to travel out of state for emergency storm work.
• Ability to pass background and MVR checks.
• Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions

• Use of machinery and tools such as chainsaws and hydraulic tools.
• Willingness to travel overnight Monday through Thursday up to 85% of the time.
