Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2–5 person tree crew in pruning and removing trees for major electric utilities. The job is outdoors, with varied daily views and on-site work.

You will mentor crew members, ensure safety and efficiency, operate gear, and coordinate planning and tasks. A valid driver's license and two years of line clearance experience are required; CDL and advanced licenses are a plus. Travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors and able to work outside in varying conditions.
• Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming is required.
• Line clearance experience or related tree work.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL-A/B with no air brake restrictions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for electric utilities.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees; remove broken limbs from lines and structures.
• Inspect job-sites, plan tasks, and ensure safe, efficient execution.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Mentor and train new employees; promote safety and quality.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Required: Line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
