Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2-5 person crew in Cypress, TX, performing pruning and removal for major electric utilities. The role emphasizes safety, planning, and training new staff, with outdoor office environments and travel as part of the job.

Your office is outdoors and opportunities for advancement exist. The role requires line clearance experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to climb trees manually.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Required: line clearance experience or other related treework.
• Required: Valid driver’s license.
• Required: Must know how to climb trees manually.
• Preferred: CDL‑Class A or B without airbraker restriction.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for utilities, safely and skillfully.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines.
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Mentor and train new employees.

Job Duties

WhatYou’llDo:

• Lead a2-5 persontree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properlymaintain,prepareandoperateall tools and equipmentincluding,chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
