Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a foreperson/foreman to lead a utility line clearance team outdoors in Cypress, TX. The role involves directing a 2-5 person crew on pruning and removal for electric utilities, while ensuring safety and efficiency on every job.

You will supervise equipment use, perform site planning, and mentor new hires. The position offers travel potential and advancement within a growing, employee-owned company.

Qualifications

• Requires line clearance experience or related tree work.
• Bucket Truck Operator experience is required.
• Must have valid driver’s license.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for major electric utilities.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged trees as needed.
• Remove broken limbs from utilities lines, roofs and other objects.
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Bucket Truck Operator experience
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®
