Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery, a Davey Company, seeks a dynamic utility foreperson to lead a 2–5 person crew in outdoor tree pruning and removal for major electric utilities. You will mentor trainees, perform site planning and ensure safety on every job.

Requirements include two years of utility line clearance experience, valid driver’s license, and completion of the orientation and safety courses during hire. CDL and pesticide licenses are a plus and travel up to 25% is possible.

Qualifications

• Two years of utility line clearance tree trimming experience required.
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work preferred.
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred for advancement.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person crew in safe pruning and removal for utility providers.
• Prune treetops and remove damaged limbs; repair as needed.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs and other objects.
• Perform site planning and job‑site inspections; ensure safe execution.

Position Overview

Davey Tree Surgery, a Davey Company, is currently looking to add a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to our passionate team of utility line clearance professionals. Your office is outdoors, and you get a new view every day!

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Required: Line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
