Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic utility tree trimmer in Lakeland, FL. The role involves climbing, pruning, and removing trees for major electric utility providers, with a focus on safety and skillful work outdoors.

Candidates should love the outdoors, complete orientation and safety training on hire, and hold a valid driver’s license. CDL or pesticide licenses are a plus; travel up to 25% may be required across locations.

Qualifications

• Must have a love of the outdoors.
• Must complete Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Must complete First Aid, CPR and defensive driving courses on hire.
• Valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS climbing systems.
• Prune and remove trees safely for major electric utilities.
• Remove broken limbs from lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Identify trees and follow industry pruning guidelines.
• Maintain and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, lifts).
• Work as a crew member with ground crew and foreperson.

Position Overview

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
