Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery, a Davey Company, is seeking a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2-5 person crew in tree pruning and removal tasks for major electric utilities. You will operate chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts while mentoring newer staff in safe practices.

The role emphasizes outdoor work, travel opportunities, and advancement as you gain experience within a large employee-owned company that values safety and client service.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming.
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B without air brake restriction.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide licenses/certificates as required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal for major electric utility providers.
• Prune treetops and repair damaged trees by trimming or removal.
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs and other objects.
• Apply tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines.
• Inspect job sites with proper planning and execution of tasks.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, etc).
• Mentor and train new employees.

Skills

Two years line clearance experience

Tree pruning and removal experience

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: Two years of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Required: Line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
