Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2–5 person crew in pruning and removal for major electric utilities. The role is outdoor, on-site, with daily field views and a focus on safety and efficiency.

You will prune treetops, trim and remove damaged trees, and mentor new employees while maintaining equipment and ensuring job-site safety. Strong leadership and experience in line clearance are essential.

Qualifications

• 18 months of experience in utility line clearance
• Line clearance experience or related tree work
• Valid driver’s license required

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2–5 person tree crew in pruning and removal for major electric utilities.
• Prune treetop canopies and remove damaged trees.
• Remove limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects.
• Plan and inspect job sites, ensure safety and efficiency.
• Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and related gear.
• Mentor and train new employees; promote safe practices.

Compensation

$24.00 per hour to $25.12 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Position Overview

Davey Tree Surgery, a Davey Company, is currently looking to add a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to our passionate team of utility line clearance professionals. Your office is outdoors, and you get a new view every day!

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: 18 months of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Required: Line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
