Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to lead a 2–5 person crew in pruning and removal tasks for electric utilities. Outdoor office with varied daily scenery awaits, and safety is emphasized across all job duties.

The role requires 18 months of utility line clearance experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to complete required safety courses. CDL and state licenses are preferred where applicable.

Qualifications

• 18 months of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: CDL-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: relevant pesticide licenses and certificates, if required by state law

Responsibilities

• Lead a 2–5 person tree crew in pruning and removal services for major electric utilities, safely and skillfully
• Prune treetops and remove damaged trees, trimming as needed
• Remove broken limbs from utility lines, roofs and other objects
• Apply tree identification knowledge and pruning guidelines
• Conduct job-site inspections with planning and execution of assigned work
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts)
• Mentor and train new employees

Compensation

$24.00 per hour to $25.12 per hour depending on skills and experience.

Position Overview

Davey Tree Surgery, a Davey Company, is currently looking to add a dynamic utility foreperson/foreman to our passionate team of utility line clearance professionals. Your office is outdoors, and you get a new view every day!

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Lead a 2-5 person tree crew in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops, repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Perform job-site inspections with proper planning and execution of assigned work and tasks
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Mentor and train new employees

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: 18 months of experience in utility line clearance tree trimming
• Required: Line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Required: Valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B without air brake restriction
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
