Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester is seeking a dedicated food service worker to join our cafeteria team. You will help prepare and portion hot foods, salads and desserts, and support service areas with fresh items.

You will take temperatures, stock supplies, and assist with events while delivering consistent, friendly service. This is a full-time, mixed-shift role with weekend days, and a possible signing bonus.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to follow standardized instructions.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Understands basic weights and measures.
• Understands basic mathematical functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepares area for food serving and sets up stations with hot foods, salads, desserts and fruits.
• Serves food in prescribed quantities according to standards.
• Takes temperatures before and during meal service.
• Informs production if a menu item is running low.
• Stocks cold supply before, during and after each meal service.

Hiring Range: $15.00 - $21.96 (based on a full time schedule of 40 hours per week).

Please note that the final offer will vary based on scheduled hours. Compensation for part-time or reduced schedules will be prorated based on scheduled weekly hours, experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Job Description

I. Major Responsibilities

• Prepares area for food serving. Sets up steam tables and service areas with hot food items, salads, desserts, fruits, breakfast foods, etc. Prepares and portions salads and desserts. Slices meats and prepares deli items i.e. sandwiches, mixed salads, cheese, etc. Replenishes food items as necessary. Makes coffee. Participates in cafeteria special events.
• Serves food in prescribed quantities according to food service standards.
• Takes temperatures before and during meal service.
• Informs production if a menu item is running low.
• Stocks cold supply before, during and after each meal service.

II. Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

Preferred

• High school education or equivalent.

Experience/Skills
