Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Worcester, MA is seeking a Cafeteria Food Service Worker to assemble, portion, label, and restock foods, provide hospitable service, and maintain sanitation of the cafeteria. Responsibilities

• Prepares area for food serving and sets up steam tables and service areas.
• Prepares and portions salads, desserts, and deli items; replenishes food items as needed.
• Serves food in prescribed quantities and monitors temperatures.
• Informs production when a menu item is running low and restocks supplies.
• Maintains sanitation and performs warewashing duties.
• Assists in training other food service workers.

Assembles, portions, labels, restocks foods for cafeteria services. Provides appropriate and hospitable service to customers. Maintains sanitation of cafeteria. Performs warewashing duties. Assists in training of other food service workers.

Major Responsibilities

• Prepares area for food serving. Sets up steam tables and service areas with hot food items, salads, desserts, fruits, breakfast foods, etc. Prepares and portions salads and desserts. Slices meats and prepares deli items i.e. sandwiches, mixed salads, cheese, etc. Replenishes food items as necessary. Makes coffee. Participates in cafeteria special events.
• Serves food in prescribed quantities according to food service standards.
• Takes temperatures before and during meal service.
• Informs production if a menu item is running low.
• Stocks cold supply before, during and after each meal service.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education:

• Preferred: High school education or equivalent.
• Required: None.

Experience/Skills:

• Required: Requires the ability to carry out instructions and procedures that are standardized.
• Required: Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Required: Understands basic weights and measures.
• Required: Understands basic mathematical functions.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
