Job summary

IU Health is seeking a Food Services Worker for Riley Children’s Hospital. This 20-hour weekly role runs 4:00pm–9:30pm with rotating weekends, delivering meals and ensuring patient and guest satisfaction.

You will prepare, plate, serve, and transport meals while upholding food safety and sanitation standards. No experience required; HS diploma or GED preferred. Benefits and growth opportunities available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• No experience required, but prior food service experience is preferred.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must wear protective equipment as required by environment or regulations.
• Adhere to local health regulations and safety requirements.
• Requires ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements include reaching, standing for long periods, bending, and lifting up to 80% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, plate, serve, and transport food and supplies for patients, families, physicians, other staff, and the public.
• Provide quick, accurate, courteous service and resolve customer concerns.
• Maintain sanitation and infection control practices to ensure food safety.
• Operate a variety of food service and computer equipment.

What You Will Do

• Prepare, plate, serve, and transport food and supplies to provide a high level of satisfaction for a diverse customer base. The customer base includes patients, family members, physicians, other employees and the public.
• Responsible for quick, accurate, and courteous service, and resolution of customer concerns.
• Responsible for associated sanitation, cleaning, and infection control practices to ensure food safety.
• Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.

What You Will Need

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber‑soled closed‑toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
