This Food Service Worker (Inventory Control) position is located within the Nutrition & Food Service at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The primary purpose of this position involves receiving, storing, distributing, and taking inventory of foods, beverages, supplements, and supplies.

Experience: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality to perform the duties of this position. Evidence demonstrating your knowledge, skills, and ability must be supported by detailed descriptions on your resume. Applicants will be rated according to the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
Screen-out Element: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen-out element, usually appearing as question 1 in the online questionnaire. Candidates meeting this minimum are considered for further rating; those who do not are ineligible and eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remaining job elements:
Experience includes paid and unpaid work, volunteer work through programs like Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, or other organizations. Volunteer work can develop critical skills and provides valuable experience. Credit is given for all qualifying experience, including volunteer work.
Note: A full year of work is considered 35-40 hours per week. Part-time experience is credited proportionally. Applicants should clearly indicate duties, responsibilities, and hours per week in each role.
Employees may need to perform heavy work, such as cleaning large utensils, pushing heavy carts, and unloading supplies. Work may involve ladders, powered cleaning equipment, and lifting objects up to 40 pounds. The work environment includes kitchen areas with high temperatures, humidity, noise, and potential hazards like slips, hot liquids, sharp blades, and extreme temperature changes when entering refrigeration units.
