Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network in Burlington, VT is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker. The role involves preparing patient meal trays, delivering meals to rooms, dishwashing, waste sorting, and restocking supplies.

Candidates should be able to work 3:00 PM–9:00 PM shifts with every other weekend required. Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, strong English communication and excellent customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a high volume, fast paced food service environment is preferred.
• Ability to read, speak, write and understand English.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to follow basic oral and written instructions.
• Meets the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods of time and walking long distances.
• Understands and follows safety and sanitation procedures.

Please note this is a part-time position. Variable shifts between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Every other weekend is required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Food Service Workers are essential in feeding everyone within the hospital. They help with p reparing a patient’s meal tray for delivery, d delivery of meals to patient rooms, d dishwashing, s eparating trash/recycle/compost, and r e-stocking supplies.

Job routines require patient interaction, working as a team, the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, and moving large carts throughout the hospital. Great attitude and navigation skills are helpful!

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred, minimum 18 years of age.

Experience:

Prior experience in a high volume, fast paced food service environment is preferred.

Knowledge/Special Skills:

Ability to read, speak, write and understand English. Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to follow basic oral and written instructions. Meets the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods of time and walking long distances. Must be dependable – no excessive absenteeism/tardiness - per department policy.
