Job summary

The University of Vermont Health Network is seeking a part-time Food Service Worker in Burlington, VT to support meal preparation, delivery, and sanitation tasks in a hospital setting.

Shifts run 3:00 PM–9:00 PM with every-other-weekend rotation; the role requires customer service, teamwork, and the ability to stand for long periods.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred, minimum 18 years of age.
• Prior experience in a high volume, fast paced food service environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient meal trays for delivery.
• Deliver meals to patient rooms.
• Dishwashing and utensil sanitation.
• Separate trash/recycle/compost and maintain waste streams.
• Re-stock supplies as needed.

Please note this is a part-time position. Variable shifts between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM. Every other weekend is required.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Food Service Workers are essential in feeding everyone within the hospital. They help with p reparing a patient’s meal tray for delivery, d delivery of meals to patient rooms, d dishwashing, s eparating trash/recycle/compost, and r e-stocking supplies.

Job routines require patient interaction, working as a team, the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, and moving large carts throughout the hospital. Great attitude and navigation skills are helpful!

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred, minimum 18 years of age.

Experience:

Prior experience in a high volume, fast paced food service environment is preferred.

Knowledge/Special Skills:

Ability to read, speak, write and understand English. Must possess excellent customer service skills and be able to follow basic oral and written instructions. Meets the physical demands of the job, including standing for extended periods of time and walking long distances. Must be dependable – no excessive absenteeism/tardiness - per department policy. Understands and follows safety and sanitation procedures.
