About This Position

$13.00/hour + $400 new hire bonus

This position is located inside a jail/correctional facility.

The Food Service Supervisor is responsible for supervising inmate labor and team members assisting with food service operations in a correctional facility. This role involves preparing and serving various food items accurately and efficiently according to work instructions and menus, utilizing food preparation utensils and machines.

Essential Functions/Core Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate labor and/or team members during food prep and service shifts.
• Prepare, assist, or instruct in the preparation of quality foods according to menus and recipes.
• Ensure proper and sanitary storage of all food.
• Serve food during scheduled meal times following policies and procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook and serve food, meeting nutritional standards.
• Follow all food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Train other food service workers.
• Maintain cleanliness of the work area, including refrigerators, cooking, and serving equipment.
• Follow uniform policies.
• Manage garbage and keep kitchen floors clean.
• Ensure the kitchen environment is ready for food prep and serving, including cleaning tasks.
• Review portions and utensil use for service quality.
• Promote a safe and healthy work environment.
• This role involves physical activities such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Be able to stand and be on your feet for most of the shift.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need

• Required:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, at least 18 years old.
• Preferred:
  • Prior experience in institutional food service or restaurants.
