Job Description

The Food Service Worker at Southeastern Correctional Facility supervises inmates to ensure that meal and food items are prepared in accordance with production plans. Responsibilities include training workers, assigning and coordinating work, maintaining sanitation, and ensuring safety standards. Responsibilities may vary by location based on client needs.

Starting Pay

$17/hour

Job Responsibilities

• Adhere to preparation and production guidelines.
• Supervise inmates in food prep and tray assembly.
• Ensure timely meal service and compliance with guidelines.
• Participate in meal preparation and serving.
• Distribute recipes and train inmates on cooking procedures.
• Ensure proper portions and dietary requirements.
• Review daily population counts.
• Follow security policies and ensure storage security.
• Return and secure all kitchen tools and keys.
• Prepare work and sanitation schedules.
• Assist in inventory and food storage, and requisition supplies.
• Follow food handling and storage standards, including HACCP policies.

Qualifications

• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Preferred: 1+ year of food prep or related experience.
• Preferred: Supervisory experience.
• Experience with inmates is a plus.
• Ability to motivate and supervise inmates or team members.
• Must obtain a food safety certification.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
• Follow safety procedures and policies.
• Must qualify for and maintain security clearance.

This role may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, and standing, and may require uniforms or PPE.
