Scope of Work:

The Food Service Worker supports DFAC operations by preparing, serving, and handling food, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring efficient food service and sanitary conditions in compliance with Army standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist guests in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Prepare and set up dining/serving areas with food, utensils, and condiments.
  • Serve meals on the main line, speed line, and short order areas; assist with salad and beverage stations.
  • Maintain cleanliness of food prep, serving lines, dining areas, and equipment.
  • Operate dishwashing equipment and manually clean dishes, silverware, and kitchen tools.
  • Handle basic food prep, such as sandwiches, salads, and baked goods; assist with special orders.
  • Restock non-food supplies, paper goods, and cleaning products.
  • Perform cashiering duties, including taking payments and making changes.
  • Crosstrain and assist with custodial tasks as needed.
  • Reports to the Lead, Food Service Manager, and Program Manager.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • One (1) year of previous food service or kitchen experience, preferably in a full-service or high-volume setting, is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a ServSafe certification.
  • Experience working in a military dining facility (DFAC) is preferred.
  • Must satisfactorily complete Food Service Medical Clearance (Tri Service Food Code - TB Med 530).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a fully adjudicated Secret Clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain an interim Secret Clearance prior to start.
  • Must comply with dress code, grooming standards, and hygiene protocols per Army food service regulations.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
  • All candidates must successfully complete pre-employment screening, which may include a criminal background check, motor vehicle record review, and a 5-panel drug test, in accordance with company policy and applicable laws.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Fast-paced commercial kitchen environment with exposure to heat, noise, sharp tools, and cleaning chemicals; requires adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, standing, and reaching for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shifts as needed to support mission requirements, including nights, weekends, and holidays. To meet contractual obligations, employees may also be required to remain on-site for extended periods during scheduled exercises or real-world events (e.g., 24-hour lockdowns).
