A leading organization is seeking a Family Service Worker to oversee services for families with children in care. The role involves developing service plans, assessing needs, and connecting families with community supports. Candidates should have knowledge of Indigenous culture and a strong interest in working with children and youth.
The Family Service Worker oversees services and supports to families – families whose children have been taken into care and families whose children are in their care and are receiving services from Tikinagan. The work of the Family Service Worker is guided by our Mamow Obiki-ahwahsoowin Service Model – everyone working together to raise our children.

Qualifications Desired:

•Interest in working with children and youth. Experience with raising a family, working with children, or being a part of community life in small remote communities.
•Willing to attend training as required.
•Knowledge of and lived experience with the Indigenous culture.
•Basic verbal and written communication skills and personal time management.
•Ability to speak Oji-cree or Ojibway is an asset.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality.
•Computer experience is an asset, but not required.
•Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain one.
•Travel is a requirement.
•No Remote Work Available.
•No Relocation Assistance Available.
All successful applicants will require an application for, or a current, Criminal Record Check(CRC). A Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) for those positions working with children will also be required. As such, it is recommended that applicants apply for a CRC & VSC as soon as possible.
